A Message From Founding Partner,
Brett Carleton, CFP®, ChFC
Growing up, my brothers and I ended up doing a lot of service for others, whether we wanted to or not.
This was because my father was a Lutheran Pastor. There were always families in need, and my father was always willing to volunteer my two brothers and I. My sister lucked out; being the only girl in our family, she wasn’t expected to do any of the heavy lifting.
By the time we got into high school, my brothers and I had pickup trucks.
Even then, we were expected to move people! I am sure there are times we were grumbling while doing this, but it really taught me the value of serving others. This has carried into my adult life, both through my profession of helping people financially as well as my charitable involvement.
Growing up, we didn’t have a lot of material possessions, but family, friends and community were an important part of our upbringing.
We all worked at a young age and were taught how to save and invest our money. This was the beginning of my interest in finances which started at the age of 11 with my first paper route.
My father has since passed away, but his legacy has instilled values of integrity and stewardship in my life—the same values that Heritage Wealth Management is built upon and will continue to uphold for years to come.
