Mr. Carleton is a founding partner of Heritage Wealth Management, an independent financial planning firm that provides comprehensive financial planning and asset management. Our fundamental philosophy is one of strong commitment to the process of financial planning to help families in today’s complex world. We provide a level of highly personalized and dedicated attention to those served by the firm. Heritage Wealth Management’s client base includes high net worth individuals within many industries such as oil and gas, healthcare, and legal services. We help these individuals plan for, begin, and progress through the retirement process, as well as transition between jobs prior to retirement.

Brett is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University, with a B.A. in Business Management and Marketing. He began working in the financial services industry in 1989, at Lutheran Brotherhood Securities Corp. He is a Certified Financial Planner™, a designation granted by the CFP® Board of Standards in Denver, CO, and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), a designation granted by the American College of Bryn Mawr, PA. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association. He is a member of the Texas Lutheran University Corporation Board, Presidents Associates, and the O.G. Beck Society. Brett is also a member of the President’s Council of Upbring and is now a board member.

Brett lives in Sugar Land, Texas with his wife, Laura, and has three daughters.

Ian Harris is a graduate of Boston College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Business. He has an MBA in Marketing and Finance from UT Knoxville and an MA in German from Middlebury College. After a career in education and small business, Ian transitioned into the financial services industry in 2007 by earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. He joined a local advisory firm that was passionate about personal attention but was eventually bought and integrated into a large international bank that stressed a uniform approach to customers. Preferring the intense client focus and family atmosphere, Ian was excited to join the Heritage Wealth Management team in 2012. He enjoys being able to work closely with clients and focus on their individual planning needs, and Heritage was a perfect fit.


Ian is currently a member of the Houston chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). He also volunteers in Scouting and has held multiple roles in Scouting BSA as an adult leader. He is also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manvel, TX. 


Ian grew up in Connecticut but finally made it to Texas in 1997, where he met and married his wife Carol. They live in Pearland with their three sons: Patrick, Broderick, and Jacob. For fun, Ian enjoys camping, hiking, and despite two left feet, country-western dancing with Carol.

Robert is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a major in Personal Financial Planning and a minor in general business. Robert began his career in 2003 working for an independent RIA firm in Baton Rouge, LA before moving back to Houston in 2010. In his previous position, Robert worked as the operations manager for another independent RIA before accepting his current position at Heritage. He is looking forward to working with you and getting to know more about your situation, as well as working with the team here at Heritage to improve firm operations.

Robert met his wife Lynn in 2016, and they married in the summer of 2018. They live in Houston and enjoy spending time with family and friends. In his spare time, Robert enjoys playing tennis, and has recently joined the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as a volunteer member.

Robert Dwyer graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.B.A., double major in Finance and Accounting. A proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1995. He began working in the wealth management industry in 1997.  Robert is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2004.

Robert is currently involved in Scouts BSA as a Merit Badge Counselor in Orion District and as Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 424 in Katy, Texas.  He actively participates in the Sam Houston Council shooting sports program teaching rifle and shotgun safety and proficiency at Camp Strake and Camp Bovay.  Having previously served as Scoutmaster of Troop 424 for many years he finally gave up the reins in 2019. He’s happy to talk for hours about Philmont, Sea Base and Northern Tier anytime.  Past activities include 2004 President and 2005 Chairman of the Reveille Club of Houston, and 2012 Nation Chief of the Indian Guides/Princess program through the Katy YMCA. He and his family are members of Tomball Methodist Church.

After 20 years in Katy, Robert and Sarah (A&M Class of ’96) moved to Tomball in 2020. Sarah was an ag teacher at Klien High School before retiring to homeschool the children many years ago.  Three of their 4 children are proud Aggies, Class of ’19, ’23 & ’25. The youngest daughter, Mallory, is a high school senior keeping them busy with 4H (Heifer, Rabbits & Lamb) and competitive travel softball.  She will be attending SFA in Fall 2025 to play softball and pursue a degree in Agriculture. They enjoy traveling in their RV, spending long weekends at softball tournaments, and relaxing with close friends and family. With a love for animals, it’s natural to spend their days with their 3 dogs, three cats, 50 rabbits, 32 Chickens, and don’t forget the fish.

Sarah joined Heritage in January 2020 as an Associate Financial Planner after graduating from the University of Houston with a business degree in Finance. She was part of the Financial Planning Program at C.T. Bauer College of Business and had the opportunity to successfully complete two internships while in her senior year of school. She was employed throughout her entire college career and was also an active member of the Finance Association, where she hosted financial literacy workshops after class. 

Sarah enjoys educating families how to be financially successful as well as having the ability to connect and build relationships that last a lifetime. With a decade of experience in customer service, Sarah loves to interact with people and looks forward to helping Heritage families plan for some of the most important milestones in life.  

In her free time, she enjoys taking weekend trips, taking fun fitness classes, and spending time with family.

Chetra grew up in New Jersey and has been living in Texas for 10 years now. She enjoys spending time with her husband and sons in Katy.

Nathan is our Client Services Associate. His primary duties are account maintenance, contributions, distributions, and operations. He also assists with compliance forms and maintains record-keeping for the firm.

Nathan Burleson joined Heritage in January 2024 after a one-year internship during his senior year of college. He was a Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholar at the University of Houston and graduated with a B.A. in finance in the personal financial planning program. Nathan met his wife Jordan in high school, and they married in January 2024 after graduating college. They have their first apartment together in Northwest Houston and they enjoy traveling and hiking. Nathan enjoys running and looks forward to competing in marathons, including the annual Houston Marathon.
